Knowledge base for the mamba and cryptotrader projects
How our trading system works
Four main ideas, in plain words and with pictures. Use the switch at the top: 🎒 Simple is for a first look, 📈 Pro has the formulas, code and test numbers.
A summary of segments, STEP, DH and the golden trend across both projects: definitions, the actual code logic, version differences and test results, with links to sources.
Segments
A segment is one “floor” on the price staircase. When price climbs the whole floor, we take the profit and look for the next one.
A corridor 8·STEP high from the anchor S0 with fixed KEY, STOP, PARTIAL and TARGET levels. Close-based segments form a chain, a zigzag on the STEP grid.
⟳ being refinedSTEP
STEP is the height of one stair on the price staircase. Everything else is measured in these stairs.
The scale unit of the segment system, in price points. All segment levels are linear in STEP; R = points / STEP. A typical STEP ≈ one median candle range.
⟳ being refinedDH
DH is a “quietness meter”: it shows whether the market is squeezed or running wild. A long quiet spell is often followed by a strong move.
A channel-width indicator built from candle open and body midpoint (no wicks): s_abs, B0…B8 profile, the “barrier” and a min/max detector with a k·STEP threshold. Gives no direction; used as an entry filter for segments.
⟳ being refinedGolden trend
A golden trend is when price stubbornly moves one way and does not give up after a single push back. It ends only when price breaks both safety lines.
A run from a reference candle (body ≥ 70 % of range) until a close beyond both lines of “Andrey's trend”: the open of the last with-trend candle (gold) and the body midpoint of the reference candle (blue). M5 and H1.

How it all fits together
Where to start
- STEP — what a “step” is and why we measure everything in it.
- Segments — how price climbs through “floors” and where to get in.
- DH — how to tell the market has gone quiet and is about to wake up.
- Golden trend — how to tell a stubborn move from a random push.
Status as of 8 Nov 2026
| Block | Settled | Being refined |
|---|---|---|
| Segments | 3/2/6/8 STEP geometry, decisions on close | Rules after STOP/TARGET: Core v2 vs “New stop” |
| STEP | Unit in points, ≈ 1 median range | Selection rule; owner's manual values |
| DH | Width, B0…B8 profile, barrier, k·STEP detector | Decoding, windows, “ripening” on H1, Andrey's rule in forward test |
| Golden trend | Break beyond both lines, anchor ≥ 70% | Start of the leg, size measure, rule B in forward test |
Overall result of the tests in both projects: no single construct has an edge on its own after commissions; the candidates are combinations (a fresh golden trend + a DH S bottom inside a segment entry), and they are in forward testing.
